What's Happening...

July and August

The staff from the Administrative Offices is sad to see
the Project Before at Selover Preschool Program moved
to a new location.  We all enjoyed watching the
Preschool Students at Selover School growing up
and becoming new Kindergarten Students.
The Preschool Students were definitely
a bright light during our work days.
Congratulations to all of our new Graduates
and Best Wishes for Continued Success
in Kindergarten this Fall!

Best Wishes for a Safe & Happy
4th of July Holiday!

Happy 4th of July

The 4th of July may be one of your favorite days
of the year.  For many families, the 4th is all about
fireworks, root beer floats, a BBQ, and lots of time
spent together!  This year, as you wait for the
sky to darken, snuggle up with a 4th of July
picture book. Make reading as integral to
your celebration as sparklers and s'mores!

TY Teacher
Our Project Before at Selover Students are very grateful to the Preschool Teachers here at Selover School who have provided some of their very first experiences attending school for a full-day beginning in October 2019. There are many thankful parents who are extremely happy about Sayreville Public Schools being able to provide a free full-day Preschool Program to the 3 and 4 year old children that live in the Borough of Sayreville. This school year has been a major milestone for the Sayreville Public School District. A Very Special Thank You to the Administrators that worked so very hard to obtain the Preschool Aid Grant from the New Jersey Department of Education!

April 2020

Earth Day - April 22, 2020

Earth Day began on April 22, 1970 and has been an
important day ever since.  It's a day to reflect on our planet,
our environment and what we can do to help keep them healthy.

From the beginning, children and schools were
approached to support the formation and continuation
of this very special day.

And this makes sense!  Children have the most
important stake in keeping our planet healthy.
They'll still be the caretakers long
after their parents and grandparents have passed away.

    Earth Day

is Dr. Seuss Day!
Also known as Read Across America Day!

"Today you are you! That is truer than true!
There is no one alive who is you-er than you!"

March 2nd is the Birthday of Dr. Seuss.
He was an American artist, book publisher,
animator, poet, a political cartoonist as well
as an author.  He is best known for
authoring over 60 children's books!  Who can
forget "Green Eggs and Ham", "The Cat in the
and "Oh, The Places You'll Go"!

HB Dr. Suess
Our "Project Before at Selover" Students
along with Students across the USA will be
celebrating the Birthday of Dr. Suess!

Here are some favorite Dr. Suess Quotes...

I meant what I said, and I said what I mean.
An elephant's faithful, one hundred percent.

Don't cry because it's over.
Smile because it happened.

And will you succeed?  Yes indeed, yes indeed!
Ninety-eight and three-quarters percent guaranteed.

From there to here, and here to there,
funny things are everywhere.

Presidents' Day - February 18, 2020

Two (2) of the most important past Presidents of the
United States had birthdays in February, so we have
a holiday in February called Presidents' Day to
celebrate them and all other Presidents.

George Washington was our first President.
He helped create our country, and he and his friends
made it so that citizens have a say in how the country
is run (we can choose leaders and change the rules).
His birthday is on February 22nd.

Abraham Lincoln was our sixteenth President.
He helped give African Americans the same rights as everyone else (he changed the rules).
His birthday is on February 12th.

Groundhog's Day

The History of Groundhog's Day - February 2nd

Groundhog's Day is celebrated in Canada and
the United States on February 2nd each year.
We watch our favorite groundhog on this day.
If it is cloudy, he will come out of his burrow
and tradition says, spring will start soon.
If it is sunny, he will see his shadow and scoot back
into his burrow for six more weeks of winter sleep.

Education Support Professionals Day

Education Support Professionals keep schools running and students safe, healthy and ready to learn.  Our Project Before Students sincerely appreciate Ms. JoAnn Lemerich, Mrs. Susan Marley,
Ms. Paige Nielsen, Mrs. Virginia Platon, Mrs. Fatima Rafhan &
Ms. Jasmin Rodriquez-Fernandez, our Paraprofessionals!

Congratulations Mrs. Theresa Aich!
Benefits Specialist - Administrative Secretary
ESP of the Year for Selover School
(School Year 2019-20)

Mrs. Theresa Aich is the Benefits Specialist
for the Sayreville Public School District.
She is incredibly helpful, caring, understanding
and very kind to all of the District’s employees.
Theresa is truly a pleasure to work with!

Please read below and really think about it...

What If ?

Let’s suppose just for a moment, what if there weren’t any ESP
What would become of our schools and where would education be
If not for the dedication of each Education Support Professional
How could our schools ever survive or even function at all

For the bus driver wouldn’t be there to pick up children along the way
The doors wouldn’t be unlocked, the lights on, or the buildings heated each day
The aides wouldn’t be there to help those children with a special need
Or the cooks wouldn’t have a hot and tasty meal ready for all to feed

School security wouldn’t be there to watch over the children with care
Each child’s records wouldn’t be the secretary’s load to bear
The computers would crash without the technician to keep them up to date
And not for the maintenance personnel, one can only guess the school’s fate

And there are many more that give so much, each in a different capacity
For to each ESP, education is far more than just another job or utility
Education is each child’s future, the hope and prayers of our nation
For that future, each day, ESP give their work, love, and dedication

A very special Thank You to the Members of the
Sayreville Volunteer Fire Department
for making a visit to Selover School to speak
to our Preschool Students about Fire Safety
and to let them take a close up tour of the Firetruck!  These men and women put their
lives on the line to
save people, pets and property.  They have given up holidays,
free time and sacrificed time from their
jobs to protect others.  They jump out of bed
at night when our town needs them and
do it not knowing whether it will be
their last call.
These Volunteer Firefighters deserve our deepest gratitude!
